About Acting Up Acting Out

This Is How Our Story Began

Acting Up Acting Out was started to be a creative outlet for students who needed help directing negative energy into a positive artistic expression.

During a teaching lesson, I noticed a student close to a full emotional breakdown. Having the student do a few acting and performing exercises gave them an opportunity to refocus and redirect the energy in a positive way.

While working in schools with students from underserved communities, students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and students diagnosed with other disabilities, the idea to give them an alternative way to learn and express emotions was produced.
